Scott Lee Honors Father by Establishing Bob Lee F’71 Memorial Scholarship
A lot has changed since Bob Lee F’71 attended Lowell, not least the towering costs of higher education. That’s why Bob’s son, Scott Lee ’09, has established a scholarship in his father’s honor that will help future graduating seniors afford a college education. Growing up largely away from his Chinese American parents in a foster care environment, Bob was driven by a deep love of learning, a fascination with history, and a strong sense of integrity. He later cultivated those same values in Scott. “I hope the Bob Lee Memorial Scholarship makes a financial difference for someone with integrity, generosity, and enthusiasm for learning,” Scott says. Bob Lee, who passed away in 2025, enjoyed a successful career as a CPA and fraud investigator for the IRS. Now Scott, a San Francisco-based tax attorney, and his wife, Alice Yu, are perpetuating Bob’s legacy through the newly established scholarship. “My dad was a person of intense intellectual interest and passion,” Scott says. “This scholarship will honor future graduates who share his love of learning.” With the rising costs of higher education and the uncertainty surrounding funding for public education, Scott says it’s more important than ever to support the LAA to improve current student experiences and create future gifts, including planned gifts, to ensure Lowell’s continued success. “We need to invest in our country’s young people and their ability to succeed,” Scott says. “A generous gift will help kids be successful today and tomorrow.” © Pentera, Inc.
